I completed B.A (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Staffordshire University and M.A Illustration: Authorial Practice at Falmouth College of Arts.
Soon after this I organised a group exhibition in Piccadilly, London, and received a commission for The Guardian newspaper. My work drifts between landscape, figurative, and also narrative-based, some of which is comprised of sequencial drawings. I have been painting landscapes, however, since a fairly early age and, if I can, tend to imbue the image/ place with a sense of energy, life, and sometimes movement and fluidity or looseness of marks.
The sequencial drawings (none of which are so far shown here) on the whole depict an interplay between reality and fiction and embrace a sense of chaos and give a suggestion of interweaving narrative using simple pencil drawings. I am interested in the mind's tendencies to perceive the world in a distorted way, create meaning where there is none, expect continuity where there is discontinuity, fragment... etc etc.
