'Reve de la Ballerine'

The process of drawing, whether from observation or imagination, has provided some of the most meaningful and fulfilling experiences of my life. I can’t recall a time when I didn’t draw, sculpt, or feel compelled to. The greatest source of inspiration has always been the beauty and eloquence of the human form. I’m generally hesitant to say too much about my work. Art should be about feeling, and it should have a narrative or meaning that surpasses the spoken word. Ideally it will speak for itself, and when that happens, it’s best not to interrupt. Creating a sculpture is a lot like raising a child. You care for it, nurture it, encourage it to grow and reach its full potential. Then you send it out into the world and hope it finds acceptance. In the best cases it’s evocative and influential for those who experience it. To me that’s the most satisfying aspect of creating art.
