Sevgi Çağal was born and raised in New York City. She is a graduate of the school of modern languages and art history from NewYork University. She is of Turkish heritage. She has been living in Turkey since 1987 and painting and sculpting professionally since 1990. Her works may be found in collectıons throughout Europe and the United States as well as in Turkey. She has had 11 solo exhibitions and over 30 group shows in Turkey and abroad.
The main characteristic of her works is the use of round forms. For the past five years she has been working with the tulip form in her paintings and is using the tulip as her signature in her sculptures.
