Curriculum Vitae

Philippe Benichou is an American artist from Jewish and French background living and working in Topanga California. Born in French occupied Algeria in 1957, his family moved to Nantes, France, when he was just a small child. Philippe comes from a family of artists and began studying painting and art history as a youth with his late mother, artist Arlette Oger. He graduated from the Aristide Briand Art Institute in Lons Le-Saunier, France and studied at the Sorbonne University, New York University, UCLA and Santa Monica College. In United States, Philippe also studied privately and was influenced and encouraged greatly by artist, sculptor and art educator, Francis Coelho in San Fransisco, CA. In addition to being a painter, Philippe is a successful voice over artist, stage director and acting coach. As an actor, Philippe has worked extensively on the NY stage, soap operas, TV series and films both in the UnitedStates and abroad, He’s the original founder of the Hollywood Actors Studio where he teaches and conducts seminars, special workshops and lectures weekly 1989. He continues to study art as it relates to spiritual growth, freedom and his on-going development as an artist and an educator.
