Notes: This is from a series of work paying homage to the great masters. Amadeo Clemente Modigliani 1884 - 1920 , the great painter and sculptor, inspired this painting. I explored his painting - The Bride And The Groom - 1916. This double portrait is a rare exception for Modigliani as almost invariably he portrayed single figures. The stylised faces are perhaps influenced by cubism. The bust, I explored - Head - 1911/1912 is worked directly from stone, he didnt use prepatory clay models. The bowl of fruit symbolises the fragility of life , which in Modiglianis case was unfortunately true as he died aged 36 years
