Notes: Scales of Justice. This, the Street of Justice has evolved and existed in Calcutta for centuries, each side of the street crammed with Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, Temples and places of worship for every religion known to man. It evolved because each and every religion is represented Calcutta. Disputes between neighbours and men and women from the surrounding area were all settled here between the heads of each religion. The Rabbi would go to the Cardinal to sort out a dispute between the two people even though they were both of differing religion. This happens for all time and even though the British set in place Law Courts during their time in India this street still flourishes today in harmony and is the best example of multi-cultralism and all religions living in accord. Perhaps the British Scales of Justice should learn from this!
